iMapInvasives Service
The iMapInvasives partnership includes New York Natural Heritage Program (NYNHP), Florida Natural Areas Inventory (the Florida Natural Heritage Program), NatureServe and The Nature Conservancy [see Partners section]. Initial development funds for the project were provided by the Global Invasive Species Team of The Nature Conservancy. Current development funds are provided through the NYNHP contract with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation utilizing funds from the New York State Environmental Protection Fund. Additional funds for current development work are being provided by the Oregon Chapter of The Nature Conservancy.
Developing these on-line capabilities is expensive; replicating the iMapInvasives capabilities for additional states is extremely reasonable. Since it is extremely beneficial to all working on invasive species issues to have as many states participate as possible, the iMapInvasives Partnership plans to make participation in iMapInvasives available to other states for a very reasonable fee and with the commitment of a Lead Partner Organization willing to be responsible for necessary tasks including quality control of data.
For information on participating in the iMapInvasives Project, contact Meg Wilkinson, Invasive Species Database Program Coordinator, NYNHP at 518-402-8983.
